Focus on the job interview process including ethics and behavior, dressing and grooming, and strategies for what to do before, during, and after the interview. Total of 18 hours lecture.
Functional living skills designed for adults with intellectual or developmental differences as they relate to living at home, exploring the community, and working on the job. Exploration of health and wellness topics including nutrition, stress, hygiene, and self-esteem; how to stay safe in your home, the community, and during emergencies; and social interaction topics including peer pressure and harassment, making friends, conflict resolution and communication skills. Total of 63 hours lecture.
Functional reading and math skills designed for adults with intellectual or developmental differences as they relate to living at home, exploring the community, and working on the job. Exploration of background knowledge, fact vs. opinion, and inference; analyze persuasive and functional texts; evaluate topics of media literacy and internet safety; examine budgeting and banking issues, money management and shopping; use measurement; utilize calendars; and explore time management. Total of 63 hours lecture.
The elements of music, styles and music cultures, with an emphasis on developing active listening skills for improving the experience of music. Includes music-making activities for stimulating cognitive, emotional, and social connection for disabled students. Students participate at the level of their individual capacity. Short term class.
