Orthodontic Assistant – Occupational Skills Certificate

This occupational skills certificate is designed to provide advanced education in orthodontic assistant duties that are described in the California Dental Practice Act. This certificate is designed for students who are Registered Dental Assistant or Dental Assistant currently working in an Orthodontic practice setting for at least 6 months. This certificate meets the didactic, laboratory and clinical requirements by the Dental Board of California Orthodontic Assisting Permit course approval to qualify to take the orthodontic assistant dental board licensure exam. Students must provide verification of RDA license and/or 6 months’ work experience as a Dental Assistant; Hepatitis B immunization records OR HBV Refusal form; TB Test Result; CPR certification, 8-hour Infection Control and 2 hour Dental Practice Act or RDA license prior to enrollment.

An Occupational Skills Certificate is awarded upon completion of all required courses with a grade C or better.
