The AS-T in Business provides a broad base in the discipline and introduces students to the fundamental principles and basic analytical tools of business. The program prepares students for a broad range of opportunities in the area of business. The completion of this degree provides preparation for upper division work for students seeking to transfer and pursue a baccalaureate degree in Business from a California State University (CSU). The program offers students a foundation in business operations and management, accounting, economics, mathematics, computer science, and business law. An Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer is awarded for satisfactory performance in major courses, as well as completion of general education and graduation requirements.

All courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.  All courses must be numbered 1-99.  Students must complete a minimum of 28 units, as set forth in the program requirements.  Additional CSU transferable units may be used to reach the 60 unit maximum for the degree if necessary.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer degree will be awarded upon completion of coursework totaling 60 California State University (CSU) transferable units. The degree requirements include the 28-29 major requirements and the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or California State University General Education (CSUGE) requirements with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of “C” or better or P if the course is graded P/NP. (Students completing this degree are not required to fulfill additional PCC graduation requirements)

Pasadena City College may certify a maximum of 37-39 units as having fulfilled the CSU lower division general education requirements.

Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a productive working knowledge of the basic functions of a business enterprise, including: accounting, entrepreneurship, economics, business law, finance, human resource management, ethics and marketing.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the communication process in a business and professional setting, including: written, oral, non-verbal, electronic, and active listening.
